BU Alumni Volunteers for Global Day of Service

Binghamton University alumni want to preserve the community -- all in honor of National Volunteer month.
Saturday, the University held its inaugural Alumni Global Day of Service.
Binghamton University alumni and students worked together at a variety of locations throughout the area doing things like raking, picking up leaves and getting the Discovery Center's Peter Rabbit Vegetable Garden ready for the Spring season. More than 25 volunteers helped out.
"I think it continues to put Binghamton University on the map. Plus it brings together the community and community outreach for people of all ages," said Director of Education and Volunteer Coordinator at the Discovery Center Cary Swartz.
Produce grown in the Discovery Center's Story garden is donated to the local Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse.
