Governor Cuomo to Tackle Obesity in Statewide Initiative
Governor Andrew Cuomo wants to tackle obesity in New York State.
The governor announced, acting Public Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker will lead a statewide tour addressing obesity and the lack of physical activity.
According to the governor's office approximately 8.7 million people are overweight or obese in New York State.
The Department of Health will provide 6.7 million dollars annually to 25 partners and projects throughout the state to promote things like healthy behavior, access to healthy and affordable foods and and promoting physical activities.
The statewide campaign is all in honor of Public Health Week.
