VESTAL, N.Y. - Junior second baseman Reed Gamache has been named the America East Baseball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. Gamache earns the honor for the first time in his collegiate career and becomes the second BU player to receive weekly recognition early in 2015.
Gamache hit .538 (7-for-13) and drove in six runs in a conference-opening series at Stony Brook. He had at-least one hit in each of the three games including a pair of three-hit games to close out the set. He went 3-for-4 with two RBI in Game 2 of the series and then finished with a bang, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored in BU's 13-2 win in the finale on Monday.
He had a .571 on-base percentage and a .692 slugging percentage in the series.
Gamache is hitting .326 with nine RBI in 12 games this spring.
He joins senior right fielder Jake Thomas, who was named Player of Week back on Feb. 17.
The Bearcats next play a three-game set at Villanova beginning on Friday afternoon.
