BINGHAMTON, N.Y.- The Binghamton men's lacrosse team fell, 17-10, to #13 Cornell Tuesday afternoon. Seniors Tucker Nelson and J.T. Hauck each scored two goals to lead the Bearcats in the non-conference contest played at the Greater Binghamton Sports Complex.

The Big Red took an early 2-0 lead before Hauck found the back of the net with 10:27 left in the first period. After two more Cornell goals, the Bearcats rallied. Johnny Maher set up an Emmett O'Hara goal and then Nelson made a move from the behind the net and beat the Big Red goalie with 3:30 remaining in the quarter, making it 4-3. Cornell responded with three straight goals to close out the frame.

In the second quarter, Binghamton controlled the action. Cornell scored first, but Paul O'Donnell found Sean Gilroy, a redshirt freshman, for a goal at the 6:31 mark and then freshman Kyle Urban found the back of the net at the end of a long scramble off the ensuing faceoff. The ten-second span quickly brought BU back into the game, getting within 8-5. The Big Red followed with a goal a few minutes later, but Nelson scored at the horn, sending the match into halftime with Cornell up just 9-6.

The third period was a low-scoring one, as neither team had much success shooting. Cornell scored twice in the frame, but a Tyler Deluca goal from O'Donnell with 3:16 showing on the clock gave Binghamton hope as the game headed into the fourth period at 11-7.

The offenses exploded in the final quarter, combining for nine goals. Ben Kocis scored and then Nelson hit Hauck for a man-up goal. Kocis then set up O'Donnell for a goal with 5:30 remaining. Cornell scored the last goal of the day, creating the final margin.

Nelson and Hauck finished with two goals apiece, with Nelson adding an assist. O'Donnell put up a goal and two assists, while Kocis posted a goal and a helper. O'Hara led with three ground balls. Sam Sanko, Tanner Cosens, and Eric Fischer all saw time in net, teaming up for 10 saves. Matt Donovan led Cornell with five goals.

The match was moved from Cornell (2-1) to the dome due to cold temperatures in the area.

BU is now 0-2 this season. It hosts Hobart on Saturday, February 28. The game is slated for a noon start at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
