Do you know the signs of dating violence? How about your teen-aged child?

According to the Centers for Disease Control, a 2013 survey found approximately 10% of high school students reported sexual victimization from a dating partner in the 12 months before they were surveyed.

Officials say violence in teen relationships should always be taken seriously and teens should know identify and combat the issue.

"Getting the word out that this is not o.k. to know what the warning signs are and to have people say this is not o.k. you know? To have people pledge that they're not going to behave in those kinds of ways," said Rebecca Allerton, Rise Executive Director.

Allerton says some abusive relationship warning signs could include anything from excessive controlling behavior to attempting to limit friendships outside of the relationship.
