A Binghamton man is under arrest after a three-hour standoff Sunday

Police responded to a report of a home invasion on Rutherford Street before 8 Sunday morning.

They say a 28-year-old woman reported she was sleeping when she was awoken by a black male standing in her bedroom.

The male tied her to a radiator and stole cash from her residence.

Police say he then fled the home and took a courtesy cab to Cary Street where he robbed the cab driver of his money and fled on foot.

In both incidents, police say the suspect was armed with a knife.

The cab driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Officers then surrounded a Chenango Street apartment building for nearly three hours before taking 25-year-old Daquan Cassidy into custody.

He is charged with robbery in the first degree in both incidents. Cassidy is in Broome County Jail.
