Some kids are receiving recognition from the Senator for reading!

Senator Libous hosted a special party inside the Veteran's Memorial Arena for children who've read for more than 108 hours in the past seven months.

The "Halfway There" party is a year round reading incentive program for pre-school and school-aged children. Kids who have read the number of hours were given free passes and gift cards to local museums, sporting events, and a dinner.

Tia Zink, Director of Books Program said, "This is a big deal. These kids are excited about the program. They put a lot of time and effort into it and they're looking forward to getting all the way through the program this year and getting to graduation."

The party marks the halfway point in the 2014 through 2015 program and the children are encouraged to complete this year's program by the end of May.

230 family members attended Saturday's celebration.
