B-Sens fall 5-0 to Pens to start 2015

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Binghamton Senators fell to host Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 5-0 in the first game of 2015. Andrew Hammond played in his first game since December 19 allowing all five goals on 28 shots faced to fall to 6-10-2 on the season.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton notched three goals in the opening 20 minutes despite being outshot 17-7 in the first. Nick Drazenovic notched his first of the night at 4:09 to give the Penguins the 1-0 lead. Just over two minutes later, Conor Sheary made it 2-0 when he knocked home his team-leading 10th goal of the year. Sahir Gill recorded his first American Hockey League goal with just over 12 minutes to play and gave the hosts the 3-0 advantage heading into the first intermission.
Matia Marcantuoni chipped in his first AHL goal to give the Penguins a4-0 lead 6:17 into the second period. Drazenovic buried his second of the contest with less than seven minutes to play in the middle frame to move the score to 5-0 heading into the final break.
Despite holding Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to nine shots on goal in the third period, the B-Sens managed just five scoring chances themselves as the final score stayed 5-0 Penguins.
Drazenovic finished with two goals and an assist while Sheary ended his night with a goal and an assist to lead the Penguins to their 20th with of the 2014-15 season.
The B-Sens are back at it tomorrow night when they host the Syracuse Crunch at 7:05p.m.
