The man at the center of a 61-hour standoff with police in the town of Danby was found dead in his home this morning.


According to the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office 36-year-old David Cady was found dead at his Hornbrook Road home around 8 this morning. The sheriff's office isn't releasing the cause of death yet but says there was no exchange of gunfire after Cady had shot at authorities on Tuesday night. That was when police tried to take Cady into custody on an arrest warrant. During the standoff Cady had released his wife and two children from the residence. They were sent to a secure location. An autopsy on Cady is pending.
