Weekend Anchor

News has an immediate opening for a weekend anchor/reporter. You will anchor/produce our weekend 10 p.m. newscasts and report three days a week.

 

We are looking for candidates with the following skills:

·  Write, shoot, edit and produce content for multiple platforms

·  Social media savvy

·  Work well under pressure and tight deadlines

·  Strong news judgment

·  Someone who can connect on camera, speak and write clearly, articulate story updates with anchors and the desk

·  Candidate must be polished, professional and personable

·  Able to manage multiple assignments

·  Knowledge of journalistic ethics and libel laws

·  Perform other duties as assigned

·  Fill-in anchor during the weekdays if needed

·  Must be flexible with schedule and hours

·  Operate a company vehicle to assignments

Weekend Sports Anchor /
News Reporter

News has an immediate opening for a full-time Weekend Sports Anchor/News Reporter. The Southern Tier has a rich sports tradition with a Division I college, an AHL hockey team, and an AA baseball team in the area. We are the only station in our market to broadcast news in HD. It’s a great opportunity to further your career.

Duties include: anchoring, writing, shooting and editing for 6 and 10 pm broadcasts, enterprising compelling stories, posting updates on our website and using social media to develop stories and engage viewers.

You will work two days a week as a general assignment news reporter.

We’re searching for someone who has excellent organizational and leadership skills and can work well under pressure. Strong writing skills are a must. The ideal candidate should understand the importance of sports in a community. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude and someone who works well in a team atmosphere.

Candidates must be social media savvy and able to produce content for multiple platforms.

Internships

We offer internships year-round (Fall, Winter, Summer, & Spring Semesters). Interns will assist with the the production of the 10 o'clock evening broadcast. Duties will range from (but are not limited to) assisting / shadowing reporters with field and inhouse work, filing, data input and research for pursuing stories.

Requirements:
Students must receive credit for the internship through an accredited college or university. Must be at least a Sophomore to apply.
