Tulsa Air and Space Museum Celebrates 54th Anniversary of Apollo 13


Apr. 9, 2024 / PRZen / TULSA, Okla. -- The Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium will host a luncheon event that includes book signing Saturday, April 13, 2023. Special guests are Apollo 13 astronaut, Fred Haise and Apollo Flight Director, Gerry Griffin. Doors open at 10 a.m., with lunch served at 11 a.m. Following lunch, a short presentation from Fred and Gerry will revisit the Apollo 13 "Houston, we have a problem" experience that happened 54 years ago. Autographs and book signing available after the presentation with opportunity to speak to these American heroes.

"This event is an important fund raiser to the museum and its pursuit of 'Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future'. Our STEM -focused programming and hands-on exhibits teach and inspire the future generation workforce," says Executive Director, Tonya Blansett.

Special guest, Fred Haise, will share a presentation about his experience which inspired the movie "Apollo 13", starring Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton and Kevin Bacon. Fred attended the University of Oklahoma and served in the Oklahoma Air National Guard before entering the NASA Astronaut corp in the 1960's.
