24 Hours of Giving Aims To Expand SUNY Broome Opportunities

Posted: Updated:

SUNY Broome students and faculty are working to raise $75,000 to provide scholarships and enhance educational opportunities during their fifth annual 24 Hours of Giving on Tuesday through the Broome Community College Foundation.

"We exceeded that goal last year which was great and we're hoping to do so this year. It's been tough obviously with the weather yesterday but we're hoping that people are here to support the campus," said Lisa Schappert, Director of Development for the Broome Community College Foundation.

Through holding bake sales, organizing raffles, and calling past donors and alumni, students are volunteering their time to provide scholarships to their peers.

Scholarships are awarded to new students, current students, and students who are transferring to four-year schools. Money raised also goes toward campus enhancements and faculty development opportunities, including "Beyond the Classroom" courses that provide educational experiences around the country and internationally.
