New Child and Adolescent Mental Health Center Opens

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -

The Greater Binghamton Health Center celebrated the opening of the state-of-the-art Child and Adolescent Mental Health Center by inviting the community and New York State Commissioner of Mental Health on Wednesday.

"You can see how welcoming and open it is for families in the community," said New York State Commissioner of Mental Health Ann Marie Sullivan.

Parents and patients now only need to visit one building for their medical needs. The new mental health center consolidated services from 3 different locations to one building in order to provide child clinic services, telepsychiatry, and group therapy rooms.

"It really works for me. It's less confusing, it's easier," said Isadora Torres, the mother of a patient. "I'm so glad that everyone merged together. It helped me and I believe it helped a lot of parents as well."

The center provides walk-in appointments for families and a mobile integration team that travels to homes.
