Johnson City High School 50 Year Club reunited for their annual picnic this Saturday, which helps the future generations.

The main purpose of the event is to raise scholarship money for Johnson City graduates. Committee member Judith Allen says around 10 scholarships of $1,000 are given out each year.

"This particular year we got a lot of people who are not attending here but they've sent money in. Some as much as $1,000," said Allen.

The club is open to anyone who graduated from Johnson City High School, fifty years ago or more.  Committee Member Lorna Kinsman has been working for the event since it started in the 50s.

Even though it is an alumni club, some members under some circumstances did not graduate from Johnson City.

"The first few times we had a lot of people back from the second world war, that they might not have graduated but they were here," said Kinsman.

Alumni came from all over the U.S., including California, Alaska, and Hawaii.
