Rumble Ponies Conclude First Half Of The Season, Finish In The Middle Of The PackPosted: Updated:
Binghamton, N.Y. - The first half of the Eastern League regular season concludes on Tuesday night. The team to finish with the best record after tonight automatically clinches a postseason berth. That team, however, will not be the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
The Trenton Thunder (37-28) and the Reading Fightin Phils (38-28) are tied for first in the Eastern Division. The Rumble Ponies (33-29) are three games back in forth place.
The Rumble Ponies ruined their first half playoff chances as of late, finding themselves on a four game losing skid. Binghamton has dropped eleven of their last fourteen games and have also lost five straight series.
"They just need to keep working and keep playing hard" said Rumble Ponies manager Kevin Boles. "That's all you can do because no one is going to feel sorry for you. If you're a front runner in your career and when things are going high, you're all up and when things aren't going so well, you're down on yourself, that's not the way to go through this game. That's not the way to go through life. Our guys are going to play hard and they're going to work hard. We're going to improve the quality of play. It's going to turn around."
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies open up a three-game road trip against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Tuesday night at 6:35 p.m.
