Parlor City 5K Run is Back

Posted: Updated:

Runners, lace up your sneakers--the Parlor City 5K Run is back for its 12th annual year on Saturday, July 6th at 9am.

Race through historic West Side Binghamton neighborhoods and finish off in the heart of July Fest. What can you expect at July Fest this year?

"Artists, craft vendors, festival food vendors, and some great music we'll have live on our M&T main stage. It's just a great event. Joel added twelve years ago the Parlor City 5k, which creates a lot of sponsorship opportunities and great support and most of the proceeds go back to not-for-profits in the community. So we're very proud of it," says Ron Sall of the Downtown Binghamton Business Association.

This year’s race benefits The Magic Paint Brush Project and The Harper Stantz Memorial Scholarship Fund. This run is a part of the Empire Road Race Series, and organizers are expecting hundreds to participate.

“Interest in local running races has been building. We see more and more races every weekend. So obviously running has caught here locally over the last twelve years or so that we've been doing this race. I have to think the Parlor City races had something to do with it.,” says Joel Boyd of the City of Binghamton.

If you’re a novice runner, this is the ideal race for you because the course is relatively flat and cool. For more information or to sign up for the race, visit julyfestbinghamton.com.
