Broome County is receiving a nearly $60,000 FEMA grant that will help improve the county's ability to use unmanned aerial vehicles during disaster situations.
Congressman Anthony Brindisi (NY-22) announced the grant on Wednesday.
The funding comes from FEMA'S Homeland Security Grant program and will provide important training and equipment to the county's first responders.
“We need to work together to keep our communities safe,” Brindisi said. “When disaster strikes, whether it is environmental or man-made, our counties need to have every resource at their fingertips to respond.
