An Afton man was killed Tuesday evening after a car he was working on fell on top of him, according to police.

Multiple agencies responded to a home on Oak Hill Avenue in Afton around 6:34 p.m.

State Police told Fox 40 that they believe the 50-year old male resident was working on the vehicle when it fell on top of him, crushing him to death.

Troopers say the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Assisting State Police at the scene were Chenango County Sheriff and Harpursville Fire.

Police could not confirm how the vehicle fell, but say they do not suspect foul play and believe the incident was accidental.
