Moms, Sons Boogie Down At 5th Annual Mother-Son Dance

Posted: Updated:

Dozens of moms kicked off Mother's Day celebrations Saturday afternoon at the 5th annual Mother-Son Dance at All Saints Catholic School in Endicott.

Selling all its 150 tickets, the sold out event featured not only dancing but also games, raffle baskets, food, and a photo booth.

This year's theme was Superheroes so mom's and their sons hit the dance floor dressed up as their favorite superheroes.

"They absolutely love having this one on one time with their boys and just sharing sharing this special time with them and making a memory." Said Maria Smith, a parent volunteer at the event.

Jennifer Taber, a mother and pre-school teacher at All Saints, is the brainchild behind this dance, which organizers said has been a huge success since it started five years ago, with tickets selling out each year.

"We started five years ago when some moms were saying there’s so many events for daughters and moms and daughters and dads, why can’t we do something for mothers and sons and the idea was brought forward and we carried it through and here we are five years later," said Taber.
