American Heart Association Honors Those That Keep Your Blood Pumping

JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. -

The American Heart Association honored those who keep the group's blood pumping.

The Heroes of Heart celebration was up at the Traditions at the Glen in Johnson City. 

They gave the honor of volunteer of the year to Dave Chapman who volunteers at the Annual Heart Walk.

A Broome County Sheriff Deputy Kristy Botsford Was awarded the Heartsaver Hero award for using CPR and an AED to save a patient last year.

They also praised this year's Heart Walk. The 30th anniversary of the event broke records for both attendance and money raised.

Kathy Connerton, Chairwoman for the Southern Tier Heartwalk, said "Every year there are just incredible stories about people in the community who have gone the extra yard and have a relationship with the American heart association... Have been trained by it... Have been to one of the session they've had in CPR and any number of things and put that to good use and saved someones life... And so we like to honor heroes... They are heroes in our community that have made a big difference in someone's life and in our communities life"

They also thanked all their sponsors, including media sponsors which Fox40 is a part of.
