New Jersey Devils Win NHL Draft LotteryPosted: Updated:
The New Jersey Devils have been aware of their lack of talent. On Tuesday night, they became much closer to getting that extra talent that they so desperately need. For the second time in three years, the New Jersey Devils won the NHL Draft Lottery. They won it in 2017 and selected center Nico Hischier.
The Devils had a 11.5 percent chance of winning the lottery. The accurate bounce of the four lottery balls on Tuesday night in Toronto gave the Devil the No. 1 overall pick in June's NHL Draft.
All eyes are on elite prospect Jack Hughes. Whether the Devils take Jack Hughes or Kaapo Kakko with the first overall pick, their 2019-20 NHL roster should be adding a key piece to its present and future.
2018-19 stats: 41 GP, 23 G, 63 A, 86 P
The consensus No. 1 prospect in the 2019 draft class, Hughes is a tremendous skater with tremendous talent. He’s not the biggest player at 5-10 and 168 pounds, but he has the tools to be an elite prospect and pro.
