Delaware Pedestrian Fatal, Police Say Stamford Woman Was Lying on Road

Posted: Updated:

Delaware County Sheriff's officials say a Stamford woman was lying on St. Hwy. 10 (Lake Street) when she was fatally hit by a tractor-trailer Thursday night.

The victim is identified as 24-year-old  Shannon L. German of Stamford.

Delaware sheriff's officials say multiple agencies responded to a 911 report of a hit-and-run-vehicle-pedestrian collision on St. Hwy. 10 in the Village of Stamford at about 7:45 p.m. on March 14, 2019.

The investigation revealed Green was lying in the roadway when she was struck by an unidentified tractor-trailer traveling northbound.

State Police located and interviewed the driver, 50-year-old Peter D. Baldauf, of Delancey, NY, in the Schenectady area. They determined Baldauf did not stop because he did not realize he struck German.

He has not been charged.

The crash and investigation shut down St. Hwy 10 for several hours overnight.
