ESPN cancels 'College GameDay' Broadcast At The Carrier Dome

Posted: Updated:

Syracuse, N.Y. - ESPN officials have canceled "College Gameday" in light of a fatal car accident involving Syracuse Men's basketball head coach Jim Boeheim.

In what was anticipated as one of the biggest games in college basketball's 2019 season, Syracuse vs Duke, ESPN has decided they are no longer broadcasting live from the Carrier Dome.

"GameDay" will operate from the network's Bristol, Connecticut studios "due to the celebratory nature of the show."

ESPN's statement:

“Due to the recent tragedy, and after careful consideration due to the celebratory nature of the show, ESPN’s College GameDay will originate from ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn. this weekend, instead of at Syracuse University. We spoke with school officials and they understand the decision.”

Syracuse faces No. 1 Duke Saturday inside the Carrier Dome at 6 p.m.
