Transformer fire creates scene out of horror movie in JC

Posted: Updated:
JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. -

Power outages and a light spectacle are what residents and drivers in Johnson City are getting Thursday night.

The neighborhoods by Riverside Drive and Floral Avenue are reporting power outages. But as homes go dark, the streets are a different story, as street lights are blinking on and off uncontrollably.

Johnson City Police told Fox 40 NYSEG is currently working on resolving the problem that could have been caused from a pole or transformer that was on fire in the area.

NYSEG reports that currently close to 1,700 residents are without power.

NYSEG told JC Police that it could be after midnight before power and services are fully restored.
