Chenango County Drug Bust

NORWICH, N.Y. -

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and Norwich City Police Department executed a “no knock” search warrant at 93 E. Main St, apartment 1F in the City of Norwich Monday morning.

The warrant stemmed from a lengthy narcotics investigation involving the distribution of Crystal Methamphetamine and Cocaine in Chenango County and surrounding areas.

The following individuals were taken into custody; Corey A. Weidman, age 34 and Cheyanne D. Moore, age 22. Weidman attempted to flee by jumping through an intact window. He was immediately taken into custody, treated at the scene by Norwich EMS before being transported to Chenango Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained by broken glass.

While searching the location police discovered approximately 1.8 kilo’s of crystal methamphetamine, 3 ounces of cocaine, 4.5 ounces of marihuana, LSD, MDMA, and Suboxone Strips. In addition to the narcotics, police also recovered approximately $35,625 in cash, a loaded handgun, and a 2004 Honda Civic.

Both defendants were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree (A-I Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree.

They were arraigned in Chenango County Court by Honorable Frank B. Revoir Jr. and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility. Weidman’s bail has been set at $100,000 cash and Moore’s has been set at $50,000.

Federal authorities have also been contacted as Moore was on Federal Supervised Release following a previous  drug charge.

Additional arrests and charges are expected.
