Cuomo Requests Major Disaster Declaration

ALBANY, N.Y. -

Governor Andrew Cuomo requested a Major Declaration Disaster Thursday after eight counties were hit by flash flooding last month.

This would give financial assistance to Broome, Tioga, Delaware, Chenango and four other counties.

The grant includes funding for emergency protective measures, debris removal and repairs to public buildings and infrastructures.

Cuomo requested a damage assessment at the end of August where experts estimated more than $36 million in damage, repairs and debris removal.
