One step closer to the Binghamton Devils 2018-19 season

Posted: Updated:

Binghamton, N.Y. - NHL hockey is just days away and the waiting game will officially be over in a week. The New Jersey Devils first preseason game is on Monday, September 17 and the Binghamton Devils aren't too far behind as they take the ice on Friday, September 28 for their first preseason game. Speaking of ice, there is no longer a basketball court at Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena. Instead of a basketball court, a hockey rink will now greet you at the arena, as workers worked from 5 a.m. to put the ice in the rink today.

The hockey rink will not be completed until Thursday September 13. For now, workers have put the first layer of ice down, started and finished painting the majority of the logo's on the ice. Their work will end today by flooding the rink in order to let the ice freeze over throughout the next couple of days. The Binghamton Devils should be back here skating on their ice within the next week or so.

The Binghamton Devils regular season starts  on October 6, 7:05 p.m. as they'll host the Toronto Marlies.
