Bordeau to Seek Broome Legislature District 3 Seat

Posted: Updated:
TOWN OF BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -

Town of Binghamton resident Mark Bordeau a Democrat is running for County Legislator from District 3. He is challenging Republican incumbent Kelly Wildoner.

Bordeau moved to Conklin in 1999 from Adams Center NY, when he started his employment at Broome Tioga BOCES as Senior Director of Food Services. As the Senior Director he oversees food service operations for all 15 school districts in the Broome Tioga BOCES, which has a combined annual operating budget of $18 million. In 2017 he was named the National Food Service Director of the Year by the School Nutrition Association.

From 2006 to 2015, he worked nights and weekends as Energy Educator for Susquehanna Valley Central School District. During his 9 years in that position he saved the district millions of dollars by cutting energy usage by over 23%.

Bordeau is running as a Democrat and feels his knowledge in business, especially his success in consolidating operations while expanding and improving services, will be an asset to the legislature.  Some of the challenges facing the county that Bordeau would make a priority would be employment and job readiness, the retention of young adults in Broome County, and the Opioid Epidemic.
