Rochester Native Bethann Ord Takes Over As BU Women's Basketball Coach

Posted: Updated:

On May 18th, 2018 news broke out that Linda Cimino would no longer be Binghamton University Women's basketball coach. The news shocked and confused a lot of people but she expressed that accepting the head coach position at St. Francis College in Brooklyn was best for her personal happiness. Athletic Director Patt Elliot announced last month that Binghamton would immediately begin a search for someone to fill Linda's shoes. Today was the day that the Bearcats found that person.

Binghamton Athletics announced that Rochester native, Bethann Shapiro Ord has departed as Weber State Women's basketball head coach and will now be taking over at the helm for Binghamton University. Ord led the Wildcats for the last seven seasons where she led them twice to 20-win seasons, including the 2017-2018 season where WSU finished 21-11 and advanced to the second round of the WBI Tournament.

Shapiro Ord becomes the 14th head coach in the 45-year history of the Binghamton women's basketball program. She will be introduced at a press conference next Friday (June 22) at 3 p.m. in the Events Center TAU Bearcat Room.
