Jan. 1 2016 Rose Sotak is sworn in for a third term as Union Supervisor.
Union Supervisor Rose Sotak is not looking for another term.
One day after Republic town councilman Frank Bertoni announced he would be entering the race, Sotak told Fox 40 she would not be seeking a fourth term this November, saying "I was asked a year and a half ago to step down, I wanted to prove my innocence and I feel that I have now."
Sotak is suing three current board members including Bertoni, former board member and current Union Town Clerk Leonard Perfetti along with four "John Does" for alleged gender discrimination and defamation after a Broome County judge dropped abuse of power charges against her in July 2017.
They have since filed a motion to dismiss the complaint.
Sotak took office as Union supervisor in 2012 after serving 10 years as a town board member.
"I’m very proud of what I’ve done and accomplished. I went through two floods with 2011 being the worst. I was able to, with the help of Sen Schumer, secure a $10.1 million grant for flood recovery, the largest in New York State."
Bertoni is making his formal announcement on Wednesday at the Atrio restaurant in Endwell. Democrats have yet to announce a candidate.
