Union-Endicott Tigers Trump Defending Champs For Class A TitlePosted: Updated:
The defending state champions, the Vestal Golden Bears hosted the Union-Endicott Tigers in the second game of the championship series today.
Vestal put themselves on the board first in the bottom of the second as Shawn Chermack's rbi double sent home Matt McAllister.
But, the Tigers had a run in the third, putting three runs on the board. Vestal attempted a come back in the bottom of the 7th, but a pop-up to center field sealed the deal for the Tigers.
For the first time since 2015 the Union-Endicott Tigers are you Class A champions.
Tigers head coach was more than pleased with the outcome. "It feels great, I mean you never think you're going to defeat the defending state champions four times and then to cap it off with a sectional title, it's been a long time for us and we're happy."
"I think we might have a shot, we have some good arms and if we can just do the things we've done all year, I think we'll be okay."
