Local Home-brewers Compete In Brew & Food Fest

Posted: Updated:

Hundreds enjoyed local brews and food at the Endicott Visitor Center Thursday night to raise money for Mom's House.

With a suggested donation of $30 per ticket, guests at the 3rd annual Brew & Food Fest were able to sample beer from several local homebrewers in the Greater Binghamton area and enjoyed food provided from ten local restaurants. Attendees then judged which beer was the best, and homebrewers who ranked at the top won a prize.

“It’s going to be one big party. Brewers benefiting each other. We get together a couple of times a year. This is one of the bigger ones and it’s a lot of fun for us and we really donated a lot of money to Mom's House last year and the year before, so we’re hoping to do it up big again,” said Dave King, President of the Brewers In The Endicott Region (BIER) Club.

The club hopes to raise $8,000 to $10,000 for Mom's House with Thursday's Beer & Food Fest.

Mom's House is an organization that provides free childcare for low-income, single parents enrolled in school full-time.
