Rivera Pleads Guilty To Attempted Murder

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -

Mike A. Rivera Jr. pleaded guilty to Attempted Murder Wednesday morning in Broome County Court to all six other counts in the indictment, for a December 2017 attack of a woman on Berlin Street, in the City of Binghamton. Trial had been set for May 14th, 2018.

110.00 125.25 Attempted Murder, in the second degree, a Class B Felony;
110.00 120.10 Attempted Assault, in the first degree, a Class C Felony;
120.05 Assault, in the second degree, a Class D Felony;
121.12 Strangulation, in the second degree, a Class D Felony (two counts);
130.65 Sexual Abuse, in the first degree, a Class D Felony; and
135.10 Unlawful Imprisonment, in the first degree, a Class E Felony.


According to the seven-count indictment, using a knife, Rivera attempted to cause the death of a woman, in addition to
restraining and strangling her, and subjecting her to sexual contact.


Sentencing is scheduled for August 31st, 2018.
