BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -

Cooper Busch, also known as ‘Super Cooper, died last night, according to a Facebook post by his mother Tara Cole-Busch Sunday afternoon.

The four year old Chenango Bridge boy was born with Down Syndrome and has been battling leukemia since November of 2016.

The post reads:
“With heavy hearts ♥ we share the news that while Sleeping beside us last night, in the early hours of the morning Cooper joined the angels in heaven.”

His family says he was fearless, loving, and can make anyone smile.

Cooper's fight against cancer has received community support from all over the Southern Tier. In the last months, he’s received a surprise bedroom makeover, threw the first pitch for the Rumble Ponies, and dropped the puck for the Binghamton Devils. Volunteers have organized fundraisers, sent in meals for the family, and sold "Super Cooper" t-shirts. A local artist, Russ Richardson, has written and illustrated a special book called "Cooper Saves the Day," which can be purchased on Amazon here. All proceeds from the book will go to the Busch family.

A GoFundMe Page has been started by his grandfather Dave Cole to pay for Cooper's medical and other expenses that were not covered by insurance. If you'd like to donate, you can access the page here
