New Endicott Police Cars Provide Safety For Officers

Posted: Updated:

A police car upgrade gives Endicott officers more tools to do their job and keeps them safe on the road. Three new SUVs have replaced older vehicles in the fleet. They were purchased with $126,000 in state funding. Officials say these vehicles are safer for officers on patrol.

"The shear size of the vehicle, if there's an incident that occurs, it provides more cover for an officer. It also allows them a little more of an elevated view where they can see things going on a little bit more," says Endicott Police Chief Patrick Garey.

Garey says the hope is to eventually replace the entire fleet with SUVs for those reasons.
