Jacqueline Kennedy Breaks BU Women's Lacrosse RecordPosted: Updated:
It was 53 degrees out when walking out your door this morning, but by the time the Binghamton University Women's Lacrosse game got started, there was a little bit of snow coming down. But, the weather didn't stop the Lady Bearcats from putting on a show in front of their home crowd today.
Binghamton entered today's game against the University of Maryland Baltimore County with an overall record of 5-6, looking to get their second conference win of the season.
The game was scoreless in the first several minutes, but once the Lady Bearcats got into a rhythm, there was no stopping them. Bri Arthur picked off a pass from UMBC's goalie to put Binghamton on the board at 22:14 in the first half. Arthur would go on to end the game with a hat trick.
Entering the second half the Lady Bearcats were leading 7-2, all goals scored by seven different players and freshman goalie Taylor Passuello had seven saves entering the second half. But, the Bearcats were just getting started.
UMBC came out of the second half hungry, scoring two quick goals pulling themselves within two goals, but Binghamton quickly put an end to that. Scoring four back to back goals and making sure the retrievers did not score another goal for the rest of the game. But, that wasn't even the highlight of today's game.
With only 1:38 minutes left to play, Senior Jacqueline Kennedy broke a program record with her seventh caused turnover of the game.
In regards to Jacqueline Kennedy's play, head coach Stephanie Allen stated, "I was really proud of her unselfish play out there with three assists, a goal herself, but the ground balls for her today and the caused turnovers were huge and really exemplifies as a player what she can do when she puts her mind it."
Today's final: Bearcats 11 - Retrievers 5
