Broome County Opens Red Cross Shelters Due To Power Outages

BROOME COUNTY, NY -

Broome County has opened two shelters for residents due to power outages across the area from the winter storm.

Along with the American Red Cross, the county has opened shelters at Windsor High School at 1191 Route 79 in Windsor, and Chenango Forks High School at 1 Gordon Drive in Binghamton.

The locations opened at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening.

Residents are encouraged to bring their pets to the shelters and any necessary medications.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar declared a State of Emergency for the county Friday afternoon, as well as a Travel Ban for Deposit, Sandford, and Windsor.

Travel bans are in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday.
