Broome County Allowing Property Owners To Prepay 2018 Taxes

Posted: Updated:

Broome County is making accommodations for property owners to pre-pay their 2018 taxes, protecting them against any extra penalties from the Republican tax cut bill that was recently passed by the House and Senate.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar held a press conference Friday morning where he outlined the ways the county is helping.

The mailing of the 2018 tax bills will be expedited and sent out on December 26th. Additionally, taxpayers can visit www.taxlookup.net where they can be printed and payed by mail. Payments must be postmarked by December 31st.

This prepay feature is only available to property owners in the City of Binghamton, Town of Binghamton, Town of Conklin, Town of Dickinson, Town of Fenton, Town of Kirkwood, Town of Nanticoke, and the Town of Union.

“We’re simply making this information available, that if taxpayers want to pre-pay their bills before January 1st, 2018, they can do this.”

Garnar said Friday that his office has received a flood of calls from concerned residents since the Republican tax bill was passed.

“Hopefully they will be able to pay fewer taxes. Hopefully this will work out. I think everybody agrees that if there’s someway they can prepay and save money for them, that’s good for taxpayers, good for Broome County, that there’s more money in their pockets in 2018 than less money.”
