Rt. 17 W Near Apalachin Down To One Lane Following Tractor Trailer Crash

VESTAL, N.Y. -

Police have shut down one lane of Route 17 Westbound between exits 66 and 67 near Apalachin following a tractor-trailer crash Monday morning. As of 1 p.m. Vestal police crews are on the scene working to get the crash cleared up.

Portions of the highway had to be closed off to allow crews to clean up debris after a tractor-tractor trailer transporting garbage crashed in Vestal near the Broome, Pennsylvania line at about 5:50 a.m. Monday morning.

The passing lane will be closed for the remainder of the day and clean up should last through the night.  

Vestal police say officers arrived to find the driver trapped in the vehicle and helped to free him. They say he was taken by ambulance to Wilson Memorial Hospital. Police say the driver is a 37-year-old male from Corona , NY. No word yet on injuries.
