Man denied sex: Arrested after drunken ragePosted: Updated:
The Broome County Sheriff’s Office arrested John Moriarty age 61 of Conklin, Thursday night following a 911 call of a person trying to gain entry to a residence in the Town of Conklin. The female caller advised dispatch that the male, Moriarty, had a hammer and was trying smash through her front door. While officers were responding Moriarty broke a window and was trying to climb into the residence.
Deputy Ryan Carnevale arrived and found Moriarty with the hammer and blood on his hands. Carnevale warned Moriarty that he would use his Tazer unless the hammer was dropped. After Moriarty dropped the hammer he was taken into custody without incident. The investigation revealed that Moriarty was highly intoxicated and was an acquaintance of the victim.
Moriarty was upset with the victim after asking her for sex and being denied. Moriarty was charged with criminal mischief in the third degree , a class E felony. He was arraigned in the Town of Conklin Court and remanded to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Facility without bail.
