CANDOR, N.Y. -

A family-run goat farm is voluntarily recalling goat milk after a routine inspection found it was not properly pasteurized.
New York's agriculture department said no illnesses have been reported. Pasteurization heats milk to eliminate bacteria, such as listeria and salmonella.

Side Hill Acres Dairy Goat Farm Batch Recalled:
Gallon, half-gallon, quart and pint-sized plastic containers with the container code number 10516.

Side Hill Acres Dairy Goat Farm is located on Route 96 (79 Spencer Road) and is known for its award-winning goat cheese.

The farm sells the goat milk under the name Side Hill Acres Goat Milk at its Candor store and at GreenStar Co-Op in Ithaca.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found raw milk is 150 times more likely to cause foodborne illness than milk that has been pasteurized.
