New Poll Shows Majority Oppose Fracking

Anti-frackers have new  ammunition against those in favor of fracking.

According to a recent  poll conducted by Time Warner Cable/Siena 51% of residents in the Southern Tier and  the Hudson Valley are opposed to fracking in the state of New York. Citizen Action of New York says that these results are proof that residents of the Southern Tier are becoming more educated about the harmful effects of fracking.

Silberman-Gorn of Citizen Action of New York says, " I think it's a strong message to the governor that most people don't want it here. I think it reflects a growing body of science that shows that fracking can't be done safely and is a bad idea for New York and a bad idea for the Southern Tier."

Pro-frackers still think that those opposed aren't considering the positive economical impact of fracking including job creation.  meanwhile, the statewide moratorium on fracking remains in place.
