Lourdes Hospital Breaks Ground on Healing Garden

(Source: Beth Rousseau)

"Have you ever heard of a healing garden?"

Well Julann Ashmen, an oncology nurse at Lourdes Hospital certainly has. Ashmen is the driving force behind the creation of the new healing garden at Lourdes.

Ashmen says, "We have this open for people to come in to get away from the stress of being at the hospital and visiting the hospital or just coming to pray."

Former patients of the hospital gathered  thursday for a first look at the garden.

"I feel a feeling of calmness and i'm certain they'll all feel that too", said former patient Perry.

Construction of the garden began in march after a meeting with landscapers. The healing garden has flowers, benches, waterfalls, and there's still more to come.
"This is the first step. we just broke ground. there is so much more to do," said Ashmen.

The garden won't be completed until next year but all are welcome to visit the garden in the meantime.
