Cimino gets look at first year's non-conference lineup

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton women’s basketball program has released its 2014-15 non-conference schedule, which begins with an appearance at the Akron Tournament Nov. 14-15. The Bearcats square off against the host Zips on Friday, Nov. 14 and meet Delaware State the following day.

Akron won its first-ever Mid-American Conference (MAC) title last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. The Zips also took part in the 2013 WNIT.

Four other teams who qualified for post-season play during the 2013-14 campaign also appear on the Bearcats’ non-conference slate. Binghamton heads to St. John’s (Nov. 28), St. Bonaventure (Nov. 30) and Princeton (Dec. 13). Bucknell visits the Events Center on Dec. 28.

St. John’s advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year while both St. Bonaventure and Princeton each appeared in the second round of the WNIT. Bucknell, meanwhile, earned a bid to the Women’s Basketball Invitational (WBI) last year.

The Bearcats’ home opener is on Nov. 22 against first-time opponent and BIG EAST Conference member Xavier. Binghamton also hosts Niagara (Nov. 26), Siena (Dec. 19) and Rider (Dec. 21).
Other road games come against Canisius (Nov. 19), first-time opponent NJIT (Dec. 6) and Colgate (Dec. 10).

“We are looking forward to starting the season,” first-year head coach Linda Cimino said. “Our non-conference schedule features several teams that made the post season last year and should help us to prepare for the America East Conference.”
Binghamton’s America East Conference schedule will be released at a later date.

NOTE: Binghamton will also host Mansfield in an exhibition game on Nov. 7 at 5:30 p.m.
