Burgamy named EL Player of the Week

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Eastern League announced today that Binghamton Mets infielder Brian Burgamy has been named the league Player of the Week for the period of June 9 to 15. Burgamy hit .500 (12-for-24) during the stretch with three doubles, three home runs and nine RBI.

The highlight of Burgamy’s week came against the Akron RubberDucks on June 11. He launched a pair of three-run homers in a seven-RBI game. The veteran infielder capped his week by going 8-for-10 in a three-game series against the Erie SeaWolves.

Burgamy, playing in affiliated ball for the first time since 2008, was signed by the Mets as a Minor League free agent in February 2014. In 53 games with Binghamton this season, Burgamy is hitting .262 and shares the team lead with 10 home runs.

Burgamy and the B-Mets (38-31) enjoy an off day on Monday before opening a three-game series against the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Tuesday night at 6:35 PM. RHP Matt Bowman goes for Binghamton, while LHP Ty Blach takes the hill for Richmond. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pregame Show, starting at 6:20 PM, can be heard on News Radio 1290 WNBF and on the Binghamton Mets Baseball Network via the TuneIn App.
