Area Students Compete With Original Inventions

Hundreds of junior and senior high school students who have been working on unique inventions all school year brought their ideas together at Binghamton University.

The ideas began with a written description at the beginning of the school year--which students have now developed into prototypes. The only requirement? Develop something that would improve the world around them. Students say it feels good to know something they thought of could help make the world better.

"It made me feel really good because it showed me that if I work hard, I can do a lot of things," said Kahli Lewis, Prototype Award Winner.

Lewis beat out nearly 30 other students for the best prototype award--winning with her invention of a solar powered chair.
