Thousands at Stake in Business Competition

Dozens of college students from across the Southern Tier turned out for a chance to win thousands of dollars.

Teams from BU, SUNY Broome, Cornell University, and Ithaca College participated in the regional round of the 2014 State Business Plan Competition.

These semi-finalists competed for a share of 10 thousand dollars in prizes with their prepared business plans.

"We love it. This is one of the things we really like to do. We think it's so much fun to do, to engage the students. And they're so creative. They have so many ideas for what they can do and how they can help themselves and the community. It's awesome," said Per Stromhaug, Executive Director, BU Office of Entrepreneurship.

55 colleges from across the state are included in the competition. Teams who performed exceptionally today will move on to the finals in Albany on April 25th--competing for an additional half a million dollars.
