SUNY Broome Job Fair Provides 'Face Time' for Grads
4/10/2014 (Updated 7:17:21 PM)70 employers set up shop at the SUNY Broome Ice Center Thursday, looking for potential employees.
The SUNY Broome/Martin Luther King, Jr. job fair drew hundreds, including many soon-to-be SUNY Broome grads.
One of them, Miranda Wasilenko, who is looking for a job in health information technology, saw the event as a way to get some valuable face time.
"It's really good in any field to be able to see somebody, to have them put your name and face together so that when the resume and application comes across their on-line system they can recognize it," said health information technology job seeker Miranda Wasilenko.
"Several (candidates) are coming in for interviews with us. I'm very, very pleased with the turnout. There are some very qualified people. I'm very impressed with it," said Jeffrey Greenblott , district manager for Colonial Voluntary Benefits.
In addition to this annual job fair, SUNY Broome is also expanding its internship and co-op programs.
