Binghamton Educator Happy with School Funding
3/31/2014 (Updated 7:57:29 PM)So what are local educators saying about how the state budget will affect your children?...
One is saying more money is on the way. Kerry Mullins, assistant superintendent for the Binghamton School District, says she got a preliminary look at the numbers Monday morning.
She says the budget includes a three-and-a-half to four percent increase for the Binghamton District and five percent overall for Broome County schools.
"It's about 11 million dollars that Broome County received from their original executive proposal. And we know that our legislatures worked hard to advocate for us to get that funding so we're happy about that too," said Mullins.
Mullins says it's too soon to tell what effect the budget will have on the Common Core curriculum. T
The Binghamton School District's budget will be presented on April 8th.
