Museum Celebrates 100 Years in the Community

A local museum is celebrating a milestone this year. The Tioga County Historical Society is turning 100.
The museum has opened its doors this week for the spring season, debuting new exhibits including the history of the Civil War in the area.

Saturday's open house saw locals of all ages enjoying the rich history of Tioga County. Exhibit coordinators say it's rewarding to see multiple generations forming a link to the past.

"It really means a lot that we've been around that long. Meaning we've been a part of this community for that long. So I think that's a big part, we have ownership of the community. That they can come in, see history. Their history," said Kevin Lentz, Executive Director.
The museum will have events celebrating its 100th year throughout this year. The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 to 4. More information on events can be found at tiogahistory.org.
